The tradition of Christmas markets dates back to the Middle Ages and originated in Austria. It has reached Poland in a significant way only in recent years, but Polish traditions are developing dynamically. One truly exceptional initiative is the Bydgoszcz Christmas market, which for several years has been organized in the scenery of the Old Town Bridge.
The Brda River, the Old Town Bridge, and the atmospheric granaries – one of the symbols of Bydgoszcz – blend perfectly together, creating a unique atmosphere that is worth experiencing in person. A characteristic element of the Bydgoszcz market is the Ferris wheel, which appears in the city on the Brda only for the market and for a few weeks after it ends.
Here is what this year’s market inauguration looked like:
The market is created primarily by the vendors and the regional specialties they offer. In total, there are more than 60 stalls. Bydgoszcz is a city of music, so every day regional bands perform on stage, bringing us into the Christmas spirit.
We invite you to the Bydgoszcz Christmas Town.
The market will end on December 21, but the Ferris wheel and many attractions will remain in Bydgoszcz for several more weeks.
